Employee Health & Welfare

Healthier, more engaged people are a business advantage. But to deliver on this goal,
employers need to address the many challenges in the current environment.

Benefit programs are an important aspect in the attraction of talent. Harbor has the expertise in designing, funding, pricing, implementing and managing the full array of health and welfare programs - that are market competitive and financially so

Harbor Consulting recognizes that choosing a health care plan is not an easy task. To make sure you’re headed in the right direction, we assist your team through employee surveys and focus groups. As with most employee interactions open and transparent communication is key.

Working with your team we will assist you in determining the following:

  • Establish a budget.

Before you start shopping, we help you to determine how much money is fiscally responsible to spend on your health care plan. Recognizing that employees also have a budget and a plan that saves the company money may leave you with disgruntled employees. This typically results in decreased productivity and unacceptable turnover. We help you navigate this difficult scenario.

  • Consider monthly premiums and out-of-pocket co-pays and deductibles.

As a standard rule of thumb, plans with lower monthly premiums will have higher deductibles. Employees who don’t go to see the doctor much probably won’t mind paying a higher deductible in exchange for lower monthly premiums, whereas workers who tend to have more health problems might prefer lower deductibles.

With most managed care plans, employees are responsible for some out-of-pocket costs when it comes to seeing a doctor and paying for prescriptions. Low co-pays and prescription costs usually result in higher premiums.

  • Health Plan Benefits and Choices

Based on the information gleaned from employee surveys and focus groups you will be able to choose a health care plan, you will be sure that the plan’s benefits include the services that are most important to you and your employees.

Choosing a health care plan is complex, but talking to your employees and finding out what’s important to them can help you identify and prioritize plan benefits, manage costs and select the best health care plan for your company and your employees.
